From idea to realization

idea

ORIGAMI WALL emerged from to the absence of an affordable and high-quality solution for a retaining wall and a vertical garden in one. During the first season, the wall began to function as a small laboratory. We started to find out what it could be used for. Characteristic polygonal texture as well as the variability of its use gave it the name ORIGAMI. And so the ORIGAMI WALL project was created - a system connecting retaining wall, decorative wall and vertical garden in one.

connection of professionals

Behind the project stands product designer Jaroslav Juřica and architect Jiří Bužek from the VAJKA studio. Together with professionals from the field of horticulture, we have moved this "prototype" a bit further and we already know that other possible solutions will increase. The perception of the retaining wall has thus expanded to include a stronger ecological, social and visual aspect.

Technology, development

The individual elements of the Origami wall are made of thin-walled, concrete castings, which are cast into polyurethane molds. The wall was originally created in home garage conditions and from a mixture that is commonly available to the public. Under the ORIGAMI banner, the concrete mix was already designed to measure, in order to ensure strength and hydrophobic properties. Securing the slope, or building a vertical garden is solved as a complex system of individual elements that allow variable work with the slope or vertical garden, including the solution of irrigation, internal and external corners and end elements.

result

A functional solution of concrete blocks designed with ecological and artistic aspect was created. The system is designed to build space in the gardens, around the house and wherever landscaping is needed to provide variable land. It is a combination of technical solution with ecological use for capturing precipitation with the possibility of using the cultivation of decorative, herbs or useful plants.
